Beyond the Bars

The Why

Across the country, more than 114 million people live with criminal records, locked out of stable jobs and pushed into temp work with low wages, unsafe conditions, and constant surveillance. Beyond the Bars organizes to change that. They support formerly incarcerated people with workers organizing, education, advocacy, research and support with cross movement solidarity.

A brand inspired by the light of a new day, a new opportunity.

CHALLENGE

Beyond the Bars uses its resources to support post incarcerated people in the labor force. It is a harrowing feat and requires a lot of hope that many people are losing. Their strong efforts are reawakening that hope by supporting people through it. Their logo is designed to showcase that hope using a rising sun motif paired with a bar like style.

A powerful brand to bring together a powerful group of people.

The One for Justice brand now lives seamlessly across multiple platforms—its website, events, merchandise, and conferences all carry the same cohesive and inspiring energy. The event management tools allow for smooth coordination of high-profile gatherings and prison visits, while the summit has become a powerful yearly ritual that unites leaders in justice reform. The brand’s credibility, energy, and ability to inspire have significantly increased engagement and contributions, making every donor feel like a vital part of the movement.
The result? One for Justice has become a driving force in the fight to end mass incarceration—one that people trust, believe in, and want to be part of.
